Turdus Merula Retreat is in Nea Makri, a beautiful town in East Attica and a municipal unit within the municipality of Marathon, that attracts lots of people especially during the summer months. Nea Makri’s center never sleeps and can be reached by our villas within 15′ on foot or 2′ by car. It has dozens of coffee shops, boutiques, and banks as well as the picturesque fishing port, where fresh fish can be found directly from the fishermen’s boats early in the mornings! Also, there are plenty of restaurants, bars, and clubs to enjoy, literally over the sea.

Nea Makri has a huge coastline with sandy beaches, some of them crowded, some of them more secluded, with traditional restaurants and Greek cuisine’s taverns. In the famous Schinias beach are numerous beach bars and many options for water sport clubs, providing water-skiing, scuba diving, and more. Our villas are 15′ on foot or a 2′ drive to the nearest beach, Korali beach, a small and quiet place with two fish taverns.

If you are keen on hiking, on the west and only 15′ by car there is Dionysus, a pine forest, which rewards you with the most panoramic view of the Aegean sea: South Evian, Cavo Doro, Andros, and Makronisos.

  • The national airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” is only a 20′ drive.
  • Turdus Merula Retreat is very close to the historic center of Athens, just 45′ from downtown, the Acropolis and the Parthenon, as well as Thissio, and Monastiraki.
  • Rafina’s port is only 10′ by car. A high-speed ferry can take you to Mykonos Island in only two hours. Also, from Rafina’s port in just a half-hour you can reach Marmari village and visit the Petalioi’s islands, also known as Attica’s Caribbean. In this cluster are the islands that belong to Andreas Empeirikos’ family and Pablo Picasso’s daughter as well.
  • Piraeus port, the largest port of Greece, is a 60′ drive and could be the starting point for a day trip to Argosaronikos’ islands (Aegina, Agistri, Poros).
